My mom was sort of bummed out this morning which prompted me to start thinking of things I could put in a care package to cheer her up. While I was racking my brain for gift ideas all of a sudden I realized her BIRTHDAY IS ON THE 22ND and I have yet to get/send her anything!?? SONOFAB*TCH!!!!!
Seeing as it has to be shipped to London (granted through an FPO but still.. depending on the flight schedule it can take a while) I need to find something ASAP.. but I'm totally drawing a blank!!
The problem is she's pretty picky about gifts. She loves the sentimental mom stuff but OH.MY.GOD I've made her/gotten her so much of that shiz. Personalized mugs, framed poems, angel pendents, you name it. If I found something cool that I hadn't already given her I'd totally consider it but.. I'm not sure something like that exists
She loves to read but gets books constantly at school. She's not that big on tv/dvds, not good with electronic gadgets, likes music but not enough to bother with CDs, gave up sweets for Lent so no chocolate, etc., loves sudoku but I've bought her a million books already and she isn't interested in the electronic version..
Last Mothers Day I got her a giant foot spa that I thought was AWESOME and she would love.. but she has yet to use it.. Le sigh.
The best I've come up with so far is a bracelet.. but I'm a total azz when it comes to picking those out for other people!! Especially someone that isn't my age..
I found this on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/14k-White-Gold-Love-Bracelet/dp/B000WEAHGQ/ref=sr_...
Which I really like but.. is it too young for her? Also.. ordering something that costs that much and has no reviews seems a little iffy..
Anyhoo
Any and all ideas will be soooooooooo welcome
I never buy jewelry so any recommended (& affordable) sites would be awesome!!
TY chicas!

Elijahs birthday is on March 10th (he'll be three) and I found these while searching for my mom last night:
LeapFrog Fridge Phonics® Magnetic Set
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000096QNK/ref=s9_asin_title_1-2717_p?p...
My Adventure on Sesame Street
http://www.shutterfly.com/shop/product_c18361-p2038/Adventure_Books_My_A...
Hmm not loving that a stupid book is $40 but he would looove that thing

Ralph Lauren
I don't have any ideas. Sorry Toot. I always end up getting my mom perfume. EVERY single time I get her anything other than that....she never uses it/wears it. Good luck!
1www.seniorstore.com/birnew.html
Oh I stumbled across that at the senior store
and thought it was cool for a few seconds.. but
meh. I'm not sure I'm feelin it.
2a bracelet is a good idea! Do you ever go on overstock.com? They have some very reasonably priced jewelry too! Or maybe one of those 'past, present, future' necklaces?
3Umm I think I looked at overstock.com once after hearing someone comment on it here.. don't really remember
I kind of want to get her one really nice gift and then make her a little care/birthday package.. grrrrrr I'm so not going to have time to do this
She's been complaining about her feet, anyone has ideas for foot spa type shiz? I keep telling her well WHY DONT YOU USE THE FOOT SPA I GOT YOU but for some reason she doesn't
4Karma, they make these really cool booties that you can warm
5in the micro, I got my mom a pair and she loved them!
http://www.hammacher.com/publish/74784.asp?source=google&keyword=microwa...
6Leo I found ONE PAIR of those on Amazon but wasn't sure if they helped with rough skin, etc. or if they were just for comfort
Do you remember where you got them??
7Um I can not remember! Dang it! Hmmmm let me try to find some for you!
8I have a link for you Karma with a lot of bootie options
9I am putting it in your gb cause it will block it here
Give her some fried okra.
No seriously though, have you thought about www.personalcreations.com or www.redenvelope.com ??
10Hahahah FU Aud, when it comes time to get BillC a Fathers Day present don't expect me to help you with gift ideas
11Oh thanks Leo! I'll check it out now
And for future reference, if you remove the http:// it should just post the link without any probs.
Aud I looked through Red Envelope briefly but not personalcreations.. is that like shutterfly
12Ah! I get it! Duh on my part there! I put some links in you GB
13Good luck!
Bwahahaha no proby probs chica.. I had no idea until Aud told me.
14i know what to get daddy bill for his birthday. and her name is bambi.
personal creations has quite a bit of cute things and affordable too. less pricey than red envelope.
15www.amazon.com/CSB-HCN1-The-Hillary-Nutcracker/dp/B000UB0004/ref=pd_bbs_...
You could always get him this
16
I have a feeling daddy is all too familiar with my momma's nutcracking skillz.
17I love the look of this perfume and these monogramed candlesat Anthropologie.
18I posted a comment with a couple of links but it got flagged so it should be up in a minute.
19What about a locket with your picture in it?
Moms love that shizz.
20Hmm the links haven't showed up yet Coco
Twink thats a good idea.. I just don't know if I should get her yet another necklace, you know
That's why I was thinking bracelet.. but am completely r8T8rded at picking jewelry out. The necklaces were angels 'n mom shiz so those were no brainers.
21At least I have ideas for a three year olds bday
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Has anyone used those leap frog thingies? Jen suggested the leap frog magnetic fridge barn last year and he loved it..
22Ooooh and one last question
They have the leap frog with just the alphabet, and then for
$24.99 they have basically the same thing but it has three slots and can spell words
So right now he needs to work on the alphabet but I'm thinking he'll catch onto that pretty quickly.. so maybe I should go up a step and get the word builder???
23www.amazon.com/LeapFrog-Word-Whammer-Fridge-Phonics/dp/B0002SC7CE/ref=pd...
Ok, sorry these are so long: www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8...
and
www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8...
24I def think you should check out Overstock again. Everything is cheaper there, I swear. (Example, I bought a book for my cousin last month that was $40 at B&N but $25 at O!) Also, check out retailmenot dot com for 10% coupon codes or free shipping.
25Three year olds are fun. Just get him something loud and/or shiny. There are all kinds of books with buttons that make annoying sounds. We won't even take them in the book store because the owner hates them so much.
26Karma you said that your mom like the sentimental stuff. Why don't buy her one of those bracelets with a charm that you can personalize having a picture engraved on it. Don't ask me how they do it but it looks nice, not tacky. The image comes out in a soft black & white style, on a regular size charm.

karma, I'm going to check Sticky's link for bracelets. I
shopping for jewelry. I'll post
the links here of the stuff I think she would like here.
As for the children, I'm pretty clueless. But, I'm sure the Mom's on here will be helpful. The stuff you posted above is really cute. Btw., I like the bracelet you posted above..but I understand not wanting to take a chance buying it without seeing any reviews.
28Oops, sorry crispy. I meant you..not Sticky.
29Heh heh heh, I love stealing credit.
30karma, I'm looking for bracelets only in the price range of $30.00 to $60.00. The next price range is $60.00 to $250.00. I'll check those out, too. But, I won't go over $80.00. Cool with you?
31I like this one. Does she wear a lot of gold? http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/18k-Gold-over-Sterling-Silver-C... It has a measuring thingy on the bracelet. I think it's almost 1/2 inch wide. I'm still looking.
LOL Sticky.
32Karma, is Elijah your son? I've seen you post about him before but never refer to him as your son, so I was curious.
33http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/18k-Gold-over-Sterling-Silver-D... - this one is also 1/2 inch wide.
This one is pretty..but only if she likes peridot. http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Sterling-Silver-Freshwater-Pear...

Crud! I got flagged and lost one of my links. I'll send them to you in a pm.
35Never mind about the link above..they come in a case of six.
36My nieces have those leapfrog things and love them! They
37put the magnets all over the fridge and it talks and stuff,
very cool. Um can three year olds have playdoh??? I can not
remember back that far but that is some good stuff. Oh and a
game called Elefun--highly recommend that one!

40I have seriously underestimated Overstock. When I found out how much I could save by buying a book through them, I was in shock. I dont do much online shopping, but I will def check them out more often.
41karma, Check your pm's.
Crispy, You're soooo right! I couldn't believe the deals on jewelry. I need to look there more often for everything!
42BB, a few months ago there was a sale on a pearl necklace and matching bracelet...for $80 I think. (Theyre not real pearls, but Im not picky.) I scored an awesome coupon on slickdeals dot net and the total came to $1 and free shipping. So now I have a quality-looking pearl necklace and matching bracelet for $1. Its great to wear to work, it makes me feel more professional. If they only knew...
But yeah, check out Slickdeals, its awesome.

Crispy, That's awesome! I swear I think fake pearls are the better way to go. They look just the same. Also, they are so classic you can't ever go wrong with them. And they always add a nice polished touch to every outfit. Very Jackie-O. My real pearl necklace needs to be re-strung because, it broke..anyway, my fake pearl necklace (that I wear now because, I still haven't had the other one fixed) has lasted for years and years. I'll definitely check out Stickdeals. Thanks!
45Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu you guys for all of the awesome links and ideas
!!! I've been going
nuts trying to find something (the only way you could understand how stressful this is is if you knew my mother..
God help me)
Updating now
Still haven't finished ordering/looking/etc. but hopefully I'll finish up today or tomorrow.
46Great job, karma!
I love the gifts you bought.
47Awesome Karma! Good job!
48WHEWWWWWWWWWWW now all I have to do is get them some nice coffee and I'll be DONE.. THANK GOD
Now
it all gets here quickly so I can send it out asap
My moms birthday is on the 22nd
And their anniversary is on the 23rd.. grrr.
49OK and how the heck annoying is BORDERS.COM!? I tried using my giftcard and it wouldn't let me because its partnered up with Amazon??? Makes no sense.
Hmm looking at Elefun now, I've never seen it before
